Answer to Weather Quiz question from February 23.

False.

A winter that’s colder or snowier than average is not a good predictor of what the upcoming summer season will feature. Two of the snowiest seasons on record in the Nation’s Capital (the 1995-1996 and 2002-2003 winters) were both follow by summers that were cooler and wetter than average. However, following the snowiest winter on record in the Nation’s Capital, the 2010 summer was one of the hottest summers on record in the Nation’s Capital.  Following the 2009-2010 winter, the 2010 summer had four days of triple digit heat in Washington, D.C., – the most since the summer of 1997.
